Back to questions

I’m a 25 year veteran of the IT industry in the US. After being layed off by a fortune 100 company in 2017, I freelanced, as my technical niche is in relatively high demand. Eventually I was lead to create a C Corporation in order to contract with a consulting company who, in turn, sells my services for an hourly rate. Now that I’ve ‘grown up’ or should I say, thanks to you I finally see a way through the haze, I’d like to understand how I might best ‘unburden myself’ of the chains which have chaffed for so long. I’ve not interacted with the IRS since 2019, at least personally. I have an accountant who handles the corporate filings and tax. Now she’s asking me for additional details for a new BOI reporting requirement by the IRS for all corporations. I’m a one man show, and can imagine you might say something like “speak to your consulting agency and explain that you are a man who would like to drop his corp charade and exchange your time for compensation or donation”. Here’s that fear, rearing its ugly head! I recognize that it MIGHT work, but before I take that step I’d love to hear from you guys to get a sense of all aspects I must consider. I have a wife and cannot chance any more major upheavals. Is there a step-by-step guide to unwinding a corporation and all that entails? Bless you men, and I hope to listen in on Sunday (Saturday is out, I’m afraid, but I look forward to the recordings)
