My Comment/Thoughts #5 Beauty in the Beast I have worked in Customer Technical Support for 20 plus years or so at a company that sells online products to the legal society. The way I see it the influence of corporations, governments and other legal fiction society entities pervades nearly every aspect of our society and culture. It seems to me that we need to be cognizant of opportunities that allow any man or woman (who also acts as an employee) to act in good conscious (while they are working in a legal fiction society job at a corporation, government and/or other legal fiction society entity) – particularly in those situations when the policies or procedures that are part of their job have the potential to result in the eventual infliction of harm (direct or otherwise). What I mean is that the role that each individual employee plays in and of itself might not result in harm to a man or a woman, but a series of consecutive actions by separate individuals playing different roles in the entire process can and does have the potential to result in harm. For example, let’s say (hypothetically) someone in tech support resets a customer’s password so that the customer can access a database that allows them to investigate an individual. The data they find could have been collected by any of the countless methods of data collection and surveillance systems in society. So if each of the three actions in this hypothetical scenario (resetting the password to allow database access, using the accessed data to investigate an individual, and collecting data with or without one’s consent) are isolated – no harm is done. However, once the investigation is complete, the results allow the holder of the information to take a 4th action – an action that might result in harm to one or more of those of mankind. Some might assess the scenario with the conclusion that it’s the order followers at the end of the chain – (law enforcement, medical professionals, etc) that bare the brunt of the blaim. But the way I see it, from a bird’s eye view, it’s the process (not each step in isolation) that is most harmful because it connects each of these seemingly inocuous actions (1) providing access to data, (2) data investigation, (3) data collection (surveillance products/procedures) and (4) potential harmful action against the free will of mankind. The process of connecting these actions is made possible in large part by computer technology, but ultimately, within a corporation, government and/or other legal fiction society entity, it is the managers and directors that create the policies and procedures (within their sphere of power and influence in their organization) – policies and procedures that have the potential to result in harm (outside their sphere of power and influence). If a man or woman, who at times acts as an employee, can demonstrate or communicate that the man or woman who at times acts as manager or director is aware of the potential (and likely) eventual harm that could result from requiring employees to implement a particular process, follow a policy, support a product or provide a service then the man or woman, who at times acts as an employee can (1) utilize the correspondence and notice process to connect with the man or woman who at times acts as manager or director as needed to remove controversy, to seek remedy and to remain in honour with love and compassion – and (2) confirm any trespass brought forward by those of mankind (who also at times ast as employees) that is in violation of law and to grant the associated request for remedy so that those of mankind can return to honor I often ponder hypothetical scenarios like the one above trying to find ways to minimize the eventual harm. If each and every man or woman who at times acts as an employee, manager, director, etc. did likewise then we just might (in time) be able to see more glimpses of beauty in the beast.
