I am currently looking to purchase some land with a house and would like to own that land as a man and protect my right to that ownership. Can you share any advice on how to do this as a “man” and without entering into any contracts that would involve consenting to purchase as a “person”. There would be a mortgage required for this purchase as well.

  1. my partners parents used to have the actual deed to their land because when his dad bought it back in the early 70’s he managed to buy it outright so the deed came with the title, but when they went to the bank asking for a small loan the bank took the deed and never gave it back (saying you shouldn’t have this paper)… this was 15 years ago, but I wonder if anything can be done to get it back?

  2. Get a land patent! There are books out there on how to do it (Ron Gibson, “Land Patents” i.e.) or get a lawyer who has dealt with this in the past. The land patent is the only way to truly own the land.

  3. If a mortgage is required, I believe it would no longer be in the private… since a lender will be involved. But, even if one did have all the money needed to purchase a property, how to encourage the man or woman who owns the property to keep the transaction between a wo/man and wo/man… when typically most property sales are done involving banks/lenders/lawyers, etc.???
